Resurfacing Post-Operative Instructions
Post-operatively, you need to be sure to keep the lasered areas lubricated with the ointment supplies by the doctor. If you run out of ointment, Vaseline will be sufficient. Be sure to lubricate areas consistently. Every morning, upon arising, and every night before going to bed... Take a damp cloth or a 4 x 4 gauze pad, wet and clean off the excess ointment. Be sure the face is always clean. Do not allow the ointment to dry and scab. Do not get out into the sun light. After 10 days, when out in the sun, apply a sun block, at least 45 to 50 in strength. Do not get in direct sunlight or even ultra-violet light on cloudy days as this will cause hyperpigmentation. You may start applying makeup on approximately the 10th post-operative day, if no open wounds are noted. If applying ointment or makeup causes severe burning, remove immediately and re-apply the ointment given to you by the doctor, or Vaseline and notify the doctor. Ronald K. Gilmer, M.D, P.C.
