• Keep head elevated at a 45° angle for at least 72 hours.

• Apply ice-saline compresses to the eyes and nose, post-operatively.

• Change the underlying drip pad under the nose as needed for drainage. If there is no drainage after 24 hours, drip pad may be removed and not re-applied. (It is not unusual to have some drainage from the nostrils post-operatively for 48 to 72 hours, however, drainage that would fill a tea cup over a small period of time is abnormal and the doctor needs to be notified.)

• Swelling and discoloration around the eyes is normal, it will begin to start resolving within 72 plus hours post-operatively.

• Unilateral swelling with extreme pain is unusual, so notify the doctor immediately if this occurs.

• Numbness of the nose and surrounding areas is normal and will begin to resolve a few weeks post-operatively.

• Do not blow your nose or sneeze through your nose post-operatively for 10 days to 2 weeks.

• Do not place Q-Tips or blunt objects in the nose.
