TRANSUMBILICAL BREAST AUGMENTATION

This revolutionary procedure is another one of Dr. Ron Gilmer’s “firsts.” The only physician in Middle Tennessee performing this surgery,  Dr. Gilmer has made breast augmentation surgery  much less invasive and therefore a much more desirable option for women. He has been offering the TUBA procedure for his patients since 2001.  And, now, it is unquestionably the most popular method chosen for breast augmentation.

In the TUBA procedure, the breast implant is placed through the umbilicus (navel) and channeled beneath the skin in the fat layer, so it can be placed either beneath the chest muscles or on top of the chest muscles. This creates a nicely augmented breast. By far the greatest advantage is this—only  one tiny incision is  curved around the umbilicus and concealed within the navel cavity. Thus, it is totally hidden from sight.

Unlike previous augmentation procedures, TUBA will not leave any scarring whatsoever on the breast, chest wall, or armpits. Additionally, the surgery is done in Dr. Gilmer’s office under general anesthesia on an out-patient basis. Taking only about 3 hours,  TUBA also provides faster recovery.  Most patients are able to drive and return to light work activity in  2 to 3 days.
